A $1.75 Million Investment by the Chicago Bears Might Have Just Saved Justin Fields’ Season

The Chicago Bears, a professional football team in the National Football League (NFL), invested $1.75 million into their rookie quarterback Justin Fields’ contract. This is because of Fields’ potential to become the next great NFL player and his skill set that makes him perfect for the position.

The bears nfl is a team that has invested $1.75 million in the 2018 NFL draft to help Justin Fields, their quarterback, get back on track.

Finding a young quarterback with the potential to lead the club to the Super Bowl is the first step in getting an NFL franchise back on track. Step two is to upgrade the offensive line to safeguard your signal-caller. By selecting quarterback Justin Fields and signing veteran lineman Jason Peters in the 2021 summer, the Chicago Bears may have taken both of these stages.

The Bears paid a high price for Fields’ selection. The Peters acquisition might be the greatest bargain of the offseason, and it already seems to be paying off handsomely after only a few days.

Jason Peters was signed to a team-friendly contract by the Chicago Bears.

New #Bears left tackle Jason Peters got a $250,000 signing bonus, according to an NFL source. His basic pay is $1.075 million, with a maximum of $425,000 in per-game roster incentives included in the contract. As a result, the deal’s maximum value is $1.75 million.

Jason Peters is a two-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle. He’s been one of the greatest offensive lineman in the game for 17 seasons and has demanded some of the largest contracts ever handed out at the position.

In his NFL career, the former Arkansas Razorback has appeared in 213 games, starting 203 of them. He’s gone to the playoffs six times and was instrumental in the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl victory against the New England Patriots.

The finest years of the 6-foot-4, 328-pound line anchor’s career are behind him at 39. He missed much of 2020 due to injury, playing in just eight games for Philadelphia. He has, however, been a consistent starter well into his 30s, even reaching the Pro Bowl in 2016.

A $1.75 million investment was a no-brainer for the Bears, who urgently need to improve their offensive line in order for Fields to thrive. When significant injury news shook the company, it turned into a huge coup.

Teven Jenkins, the Bears’ left tackle, will have back surgery.

While Andy Dalton is expected to start the season, Fields is expected to take over at some point (which many think will be sooner rather than later).

Keeping Fields upright when he makes his actual NFL debut will be critical to both his and the Bears’ success. With their next selection in 2021, the Bears selected Teven Jenkins, a 6-foot-6, 328-pound left tackle out of Oklahoma State (No. 39 overall).

From the outset, the Bears had the first-team All-Big 12 offensive guard penciled in to start at his position. Jenkins, on the other hand, had been out of camp due to a back ailment. Jenkins had back surgery on August 18 and will miss time this season, according to the club. According to the Chicago Tribune, no timeline for his comeback has been established, but head coach Matt Nagy said that “the objective is to bring him back this year.”

Jenkins’ absence will be an issue for the Bears no matter how long he is away. Elijah Wilkinson was the backup before to Peters’ signing. However, reports from camp indicate that Wilkinson and the whole offensive line are struggling.

Peters went from a luxury depth acquisition to a potential Week 1 starter in a flash. Fields and the Bears’ season may be saved if he can reclaim some of the form that made him one of the greatest tackles in the league.

Peters is the NFL’s 18th highest-paid athlete ever.

Jason Peters began his professional career as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Arkansas. He’ll leave the league as one of the highest-paid players ever.

Peters played with the Buffalo Bills for five seasons, the final two of which he was named to the Pro Bowl. The lineman forced a trade to the Philadelphia Eagles after being dissatisfied with Buffalo’s contract extension proposals. Peters received a four-year, $51 million contract from Philadelphia after earning just under $12 million in his first five years.

Peters got two more massive contracts for $41.3 million and $32.5 million over the next 12 years guarding the Eagles’ QB’s blindsides. These deals, together with a restructuring agreement in 2019, a one-year, $4 million deal in 2020, and the new Bears contract, total $117.29 million in his career earnings.

He is now the 18th highest-paid player in NFL history, behind only Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden ($121.4 million) and Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt ($115.24 million).

After all of this money, Peters seems to be looking for something different as he nears the end of his NFL career. That’s a stroke of luck for the Chicago Bears, who may have just rescued the season with their $1.75 million score.

Spotrac provided all contract data.
