Kevin Durant Re-Ignites Old Feud With Former Teammate After Gold-Medal Win

Kevin Durant’s win over his former team, the United States, has reignited a feud between him and LeBron James.

Kevin Durant is a former Oklahoma City Thunder player who won his first gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics. After winning, he re-ignited an old feud with former teammate Russell Westbrook.

Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins were teammates for four years and were in the NBA Finals with each other. They seem more like a couple going through a nasty divorce than brothers-in-jump-shots. After Durant led Team USA to a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics, the rivalry erupted once more.

Before and throughout the Olympics, Perkins was an outspoken critic of USA Basketball, and Durant and former Golden State Warriors teammate Draymond Green kept the receipts. Perkins and other skeptics were in for a number of truth bombs.

Perkins and Durant, on the other hand, have been performing this dance for almost a year. And anybody who is active on social media is a winner.

When Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Warriors in 2016, he shocked the sports world. Golden State had just made a comeback from a 3–1 series deficit to win the Western Conference Finals when he signed. Against the Thunder and Durant.

The heat was cranked up to nuclear levels in the sports media. Oklahoma City supporters reacted like children receiving coal in their Christmas stockings.

And one of the most notable detractors was Kendrick Perkins. Perkins teased a future visit on ESPN’s iconic SportsCenter on Twitter in January 2020. Perkins, who has gotten more use out of a single ring as a role player than maybe any other player in NBA history, said he would explain why Russell Westbrook is the greatest player in Thunder history.

Marc D’Amico, an NBA writer, responded to this. Perkins replied that Durant lost in the second round when Russell Westbrook fell down early in the 2013 playoffs, after D’Amico criticized Westbrook for three consecutive second-round playoff exits. Durant stepped in at that point.

KD would pounce on any user, even Buzzy52301325, so taking on a former teammate sounds almost respectable. Durant won the bout by unanimous judgment of the judges.

That squabble was the catalyst for Durant and Green’s post-gold clapback (who were allegedly (gasp!!!) drinking after the game).

Before going for the Olympics, the USA Basketball team lost exhibition games to Nigeria and Australia. The squad then lost against France in its first match in Tokyo. Kendrick Perkins took advantage of the occasion to proclaim on Twitter that the United States’ supremacy in the sport has come to an end.

On their way back to the locker room after the gold-medal celebration, Green and Durant fired some shots at Perkins.

“Everyone predicted that we’d take the L. They possessed a hierarchy of authority. We were ranked fourth, just ahead of Slovenia. Let’s face it, dude. They’re acting as though they’re catching up to us. Are you joking? You think this ability is unrivaled?”

Perkins was ecstatic when Green responded through Twitter.

“Imagine winning a Gold Medal for your nation, and going into the locker room, the first name you utter is KENDRICK PERKINS. WOW! Thank you so much, and congratulations on earning the gold! “Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep

Perkins ends each tweet with the final phrase, restricting himself to 260 characters. With his regular TV appearances, Perkins, on the other hand, has lots of opportunities to talk himself into a hole.

Kevin Durant isn’t the only one who has spoken out against Perkins.

Kendrick Perkins was called out during a famous interview on ESPN’s Get Up the morning after the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA championship, before Kevin Durant said anything from Tokyo. Perkins and Jalen Rose appeared on the show, which was hosted by Mike Greenberg.

During the NBA Finals, Perkins expressed his thoughts on a variety of subjects. Most notably, he said Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time NBA MVP, was Robin to two-time All-Star Khris Middleton’s Batman. Even if it was Perk’s sole blunder, it was still incorrect. Rose, on the other hand, brought a lot more with her.

Perkins was chastised by Rose for:

It devolved into the two ex-NBA players screaming over one other, forcing Greenberg to get out of his chair and walk away at one point.

However, considering the successful careers of people like Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith, Shannon Sharpe, and others who prioritized outrageousness above all else, Kendrick Perkins seems to be on his way to a profitable second career.
