If you need to connect 2 AirPods using Bluetooth without an iPhone or iPad, this guide is for you. You can also pair them normally if they are in the same case.
To do so, make sure that both of your Airpods are charged up all the way – then take them out of your charging case and into your hands.
Make sure that your Bluetooth is turned on, and connect your Airpods to the device you are trying to pair them with by clicking the button under each Airpod’s case. Once they are paired up, put one of the Airpods in your ear. You will hear a tone coming from both speakers when they are paired up and ready for use. (Just like usual.)
To connect the 2nd Airpod, put it in your ear or hold it near your phone. You shouldn’t hear a tone coming from the speaker if it’s truly paired up with the first one. If you do, click it to make sure that both of them aren’t using the same Bluetooth connection. If it’s still not connecting, delete the 1st Airpod and reconnect again (just like we did to connect the 2nd one).
If you can’t hear a tone at all, don’t worry! Have the owner of the 1st Airpod hold down the button on top of their case; we will do the same with the 2nd Airpod once it’s in our ears. Once both buttons are held down, you will hear a tone coming from its respective Airpod that indicates that it is now paired up via Bluetooth with the 1st one!
Tips and tricks:
You can also pair your AirPods to a new device using the same process. Just click on “Forget this Device” and then re-pair them. Make sure you have both of your Airpods out of the case for this to work though, or they will connect automatically to the charging case instead.
Once you’ve paired your Airpods, you can also use them on your Apple TV. Just click and hold the play button on your Siri Remote and they will connect!
If you want to try this out for yourself, there are a couple of ways to do so:
Connect any Bluetooth device / headphones with your iOS device and double click on the home button. Click on the Bluetooth name and select “Forget this Device”.
Connect your Apple TV! Open Settings, click Remotes and Devices, click Bluetooth.
Click and hold the Siri Remote’s play button to pair your AirPods.
Can I connect 2 airpods with one phone?
Yes you can pair 2 wireless earphones to same smartphone at same time. Currently only iPhones support simultaneous pairing of multiple devices.
Can you connect 2 airpods to an android device?
One of the most popular questions I get asked is how to connect two AirPods with Android devices. Currently, only iPhones are capable of connecting two wireless earphones at once, but we can pair 1 wireless headphone and 1 iPhone together at same time.
What happens if you connect 2 airpods to an android device?
If you try pairing one bluetooth headphone with an Android phone and another with an iPhone, the iPhone is most likely going to win. If you try pairing two AirPods together on your Android, they may work temporarily but will probably start disconnecting shortly afterwards.
Conclusion:
So, can you connect 2 airpods to one iPhone? The answer is yes! There are a few different ways to go about it though. You can also use some of these methods for other Bluetooth devices that don’t pair up normally.
